Who We Are and the Privacy Policy Overview

MagicRec is an online text-to-speech service that can be a reliable assistant for you in your language learning. Our website was founded in 2021 and is located at https://www.magicrec.com.

MagicRec treats the data protection and privacy of our visitors and members with great concern. Our privacy policy shall be intended to inform you of the type of information that may be obtained from you in connection with your use of the MagicRec.com website. It also explains the terms under which we use and when we may disclose this information, as well as your rights regarding this information.

In general, MagicRec does not collect personally identifiable information other than IP addresses, unless you register for an account on the site. If you register for an account, you will be required to provide an email address and a unique password to access the site.

We also work with third parties to display advertisements, social media links, article comments, affiliate marketing and analytics. All third party partners have assured MagicRec that they operate in accordance with the laws and regulations of the country from which the visitor is visiting the site MagicRec.com. All third party partners will be described later in this document.

We also strive to ensure compliance with the GDPR by enabling our users to opt-out of data collection and understand their rights.

If at any time you want to change your GDPR compliance, you can do so.

This policy will be updated from time to time to reflect new features on the site, new third-party services we use, or updates in accordance with privacy practices. When changes are made, we will update the date at the top of this Privacy Policy and retain a link to the previous policy. It shall be recommended to check this policy periodically to see if anything has changed.

Registering an account with MagicRec

MagicRec provides visitors with the option to sign up for a free account so that they can test and explore all the available features of the service. When registering an account, you shall provide an email address.

In addition to this information, in order to register an account, you will need to confirm the email address of your account, agree to User Agreement MagicRec (agree to this Privacy Policy).

We will be happy to remove any personal information at the request of a member.

As an advantage of registering for an account, you will no longer see ads on the site when you log in.

What data MagicRec collects from you and how we use it

When you use MagicRec, certain data is automatically collected by our server and website. As stated earlier, if you choose to register an account, additional data will also be collected to create it. This data shall be necessary for the website to function properly and to provide the expected functionality. We have described what data MagicRec collects below.

Registration information

When a user registers an account on the site to become a member, he shall provide an email address. Upon registration, their IP address at the time of registration will be linked to the account for security purposes. This IP address shall not publicly displayed. After registration, the participant can optionally add the information share of the contact Skype, Telegram, and Viber. This information can be deleted at any time.

Contact Information

When registering an account or using the "Contact us" form on the site, users can provide contact information, e-mail address, Skype, Telegram, and Viber. This information shall only be used to contact the member as needed and be never shared with third parties. Registered members have the option to subscribe to notifications and news about the service to the email address associated with their account. Users can turn off these notifications at any time in their settings.

Analytics and Server Logs

When anyone, whether you are a member or a guest, visits MagicRec, our server automatically records the user's IP address and stores it in our server logs. This shall be a common practice for all web servers and we only use this information for security purposes or when required by law. These logs shall be kept for only 7 days.

MagicRec also uses Google Analytics to provide anonymous and aggregated data about our visitors. This allows us to see what content our visitors enjoy the most, which sections are driving the most traffic, and allows us to deliver what you expect from MagicRec.com. To anonymize the collection of data by Google Analytics, we have enabled the IP Anonymization feature and disabled the Remarketing and Advertising Reporting Features.

Cookie

We now come to everyone's favorite cookie, but the biggest annoyance when it comes to web browsing.

With regard to browser cookies, MagicRec only sets the cookies necessary for the website to function properly. This includes cookies that track, session cookies that allow you to stay on a site while you browse, cookies associated with the Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 on the Internet ("COPPA"), and cookies, which provide the information required for the various sections of the site. However, none of these cookies are used to track you on the site.

However, there are other cookies that will be added to your browser by third parties. These third party cookies shall be described in the next section.

What data third parties may collect

It shall be important to note that MagicRec does not share your data with anyone unless it is illegal to do so. However, we do work with third party services that may collect data from users visiting MagicRec.com and place their own cookies on the visitor's browser.

Below we have described each of the companies we work with and how data is collected when you use the site.

Advertising

To continue to deliver the quality service and support, well-loved by you, we need to pay bills and therefore display ads. The good news is that if you don't want to see ads, just sign up for a free account, login to the site and they will disappear :)

Information about Google cookies files:

  • Third party vendors, including Google, shall use cookies to serve ads based on the user's previous visits to your website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visits to your sites and / or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users can opt out of personalized ads by visiting Advertising Settings. (Alternatively, you can instruct users to opt out of third-party cookies for personalized advertising.)

Other advertisers may delete their own cookies, including tracking cookies, use tracking pixels, or serve interest-based ads, as permitted in the visitor's country.

Analytics

As previously described, MagicRec uses Google Analytics to provide anonymous and aggregated statistics on how visitors use the site. Google Analytics will place cookies that track how the user uses the site, but these cookies are not passed on to third parties.

Website security and content delivery

We use Cloudflare for DDoS-attacks prevention, website security, and as a Content Delivery Network (CDN). When our traffic passes through their service, Cloudflare will add cookies to the visitor's browser to enable some of their security features to work. You can read about their cookies here.

Law Enforcement Agencies

We may disclose personal information if required by law, at the request of a government agency, or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) comply with a legal requirement or comply with a legal process; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of MagicRec or its subsidiaries; (c) investigate or prevent crime or protect national security or cooperate in the investigation of any incident in which we believe you have abused the Site by using it to attack other systems or to gain unauthorized access to any other system, to send spam, or otherwise, violate applicable law; or (d) protect the users' or the public personal safety.

Don't do anything wrong and we don't have to worry about the above :)

Your rights to your data

We do not store data for those who have not registered an account on the site.

If you have registered as a member, then you have access to all the data you have posted by viewing your profile.

Any content submitted will be linked to your profile until you delete it or we delete your account. When an account is deleted, the content you submitted shall be deleted as well.

California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA")

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) shall grant California residents five new rights regarding how websites collect personal information, whether the visitor is a customer or has any other relationship with the covered company.

These five rights shall be explained below:

  • The right to require disclosure of information about the methods of collecting and selling your business in connection with the requesting consumer, including the categories of personal information you collect, the source of the information, your use of the information and, if the information has been disclosed or sold to third parties, the categories of disclosed or sold personal information to third parties, and the categories of third parties to whom such information has been disclosed or sold;
  • The right to request a copy of specific personal information collected about them within 12 months prior to their request (together with right # 1, “requesting personal information”);
  • The right to delete such information (excluding);
  • The right to request that their personal information not be sold to third parties, if applicable; and
  • The right not to be discriminated against because they have exercised any of the new rights.

We believe that our existing privacy and data collection practices shall be in line with the CCPA.

California residents shall have the right to request personal information collected by MagicRec twice within 12 months.

You can also Request to delete the data we have received from you. We may deny your request under certain circumstances, for example, if we need to comply with our legal obligations or complete a transaction for which your Personal Information has been collected. If we deny your request to delete, we will tell you the reason.

Reasons why MagicRec will contact you

MagicRec will only contact you for the following reasons:

  • Service updates and policy changes.
  • Violation notifications will be sent to all registered users within 72 hours of the incident.
  • Newsletters will only be sent to those who subscribe to our newsletter.
  • Marketing content will be sent to members who select it during registration. This shall be disabled by default.
